Our team leader John Joseph Hopkins '05, former captain of the Yale Crew Team, will lead two Yale Alumni boats for a day long rowing adventure around the island of Manhattan! Rowers will compete to benefit a great organization, Rocking the Boat, in collaboration with theVillage Community Boathouse.

The day will culminate in a fabulous and fun filled afternoon outdoor BarbecueParty. We'll have great food and drinks, as well as terrific educational activities for kids and adultsto learn about boat building, river life, and all things aquatic. There will also be boat rides on hand built wooden rowboats -- you can ride and enjoy being out on the Hudson, or try your hand at rowing!

As this fabulous event isa fundraiser,we are asking for contributions in the form of a pledge donation to sponsor either a Yale boat or rower, all proceeds to benefit Rocking the Boat.

We are looking for volunteers to help run this event in the following shifts, as well as rowers for the regatta, and donations!

Lunch Shift, 11 AM to 1 PM: Swindlers Cove, Harlem River, upper Manhattan, 10 volunteers are needed to help serve lunch to all the rowers and cheer them on!

Afternoon Barbeque Party,1st Shift: 3 to6 PM, 2nd Shift: 5 to 8 PM: Pier 66, Hudson River at 26thStreet, Twenty volunteers are needed to help organize and run this after party, which will be a fun and fantastic event.

We are also looking for ROWERS to compete for Team Yale in hand-built wooden rowboats around Manhattan. The row is 26 miles and will be split into two shifts: a morning 5 hour shift and a 3 hour afternoon shift. Previous rowing experience is NOT required, but you should be reasonably fit. If you are not an experienced rower, you will need to attend a rowing orientation session which will be held on a weekday evening before the event.
