Once upon a time there lived... 'a king!' my little readers will say immediately. No children, you are mistaken. Once upon a time there lived a piece of wood.
Carlo Collodi, The Adventures of Pinocchio
THE ASSASSINS CHASE PINOCCHIO
a work from Immediate Medium
conceived by Max Dana
Witness Pinocchio's dramatic escape from the belly of the asthmatic shark! Listen in astonishment as the beautiful blue child with the blue hair lectures him on his questionable life choices! Gaze in amazement upon the wonders of the Land of Crazy Sweet Candy Chaos!
Immediate Medium's re-imagining of Collodi's original 1883 text is definitely not your grandmother's Pinocchio. A psychedelic mashup of original music, projections, live video compositing, masks, found objects and Italianate gibberish, The Assassins Chase Pinocchio fractures the storytelling tradition into an immersive multimedia experience for all!
Appropriate for children ages 4, 24, 34 and 104.
And probably ages in between.
The Assassins Chase Pinocchio is the third in IM's recent series of literary adaptations that includes Chuck. Chuck. Chuck. (2009), an examination of Faulkner's As I Lay Dying, and Doesn't Everybody Do It In Paris? (2010), a dance theater work exploring Flaubert's Madame Bovary. Reviewers called these productions thrilling and relentless (The Village Voice), a rich fusion of live and recorded sounds and images (Backstage) and a poetry of performance" (theateronline.com).
