New York Philomusica opens its 36th season under the artistic direction of A. Robert Johnson with superb examples of early trios by some of music�s best minds. The concert will take place on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at 8:00 p.m., at the Broadway Presbyterian Church, Broadway at 114th Street, in New York City. The program consists of: Joseph Haydn�s Trio in G, Op. 53, No. 1 (1787); A.P.F. Bo�ly�s (1785 - 1858) Trio No. 1 in D, Op. 5 (1808); Zolt�n Kod�ly�s (1882 - 1967) Intermezzo (1905); Michael Berkeley�s (b. 1948) Trio (1978); and Ludwig van Beethoven�s Trio No. 1 in G, Op. 9.1 (1797). Featured artists will be Yonah Zur, violin, Junah Chung, viola; and Gerald Appleman, �cello. Mr. Johnson will host a free Meet-the-Artists interview of Benjamin Piekutt, doctoral candidate in music history at Columbia University, preceding the concert at 7:30 p.m. A reception for audience and musicians will follow the performance.
