Interested in Medicine, Public Health, or Scientific Research? Looking for a way to reach out to the New Haven community? Join the Minorities in Medicine Movement!
Minorities in Medicine (MMM) seeks to provide mentorship and support to high school students who would not normally have exposure to pursue careers in medicine. Increasing diversity in the medical professions is an important step to increase equality in healthcare for minorities in the United States. Undergraduates are paired with a high school student to discuss a range of topics including the college application process in general, current events in health and medicine, and life as a premed student. Students will also go on field trips such as the anatomy lab. There are also panels with current medical students, doctors, and health professionals to provide exposure at various stages of the process. MMM is a great way to inspire high school students by giving them tangible ways to reach their goals learn more about medicine and public health, while also learning more about these fields yourself!
