Interested in Health Policy, Delivery, and Finance?
The SummerEnrichment Program (SEP), founded in 1986 in the Department of HealthManagement and Policy at the University of Michigan's School of PublicHealth, is designed to familiarize undergraduate students with inequalities inhealth and health care that confront low-income communities across the United
States.
Many hospitals, health centers, and other health and health careorganizations in the Detroit-Ann Arbor-Flint area have agreed to provide paid($3,000 for the summer) eight-week summer internships to qualifiedundergraduate students from across the country who demonstrate an interest inthe elimination of racial/ethnic health disparities.
These internships are great opportunities for students interested in health policy, healthmanagement (including finance and health information systems), the healthprofessions, or any career which will enable them to use their skills in asocially meaningful way. Accepted students also receive, at nocost to them, on-campus housing, a food allowance and travel expenses to andfrom Ann Arbor. We also provide transportation to and from the internship sites.
The application is available at:http://www.sph.umich.edu/sep/.
The application deadline is February 4, 2011.
Please contact Charlita Daniels, Program Coordinator, orRichard Lichtensteinif you would like todiscuss the Summer Enrichment Program further. The program's phone number is(734) 936-3296, or email at
